Certification
This State-mandated course includes instruction about areas of knowledge such as, but not limited to:
- Firearm safety
- Basics of pistol shooting
- Carrying a concealed handgun (Specifics about carrying in Nebraska)
- Conceptual information about using a handgun in self-defense (Special instruction on this for use in Nebraska)
- Understanding pistol holsters
- Understanding proper firearm and ammunition storage inside or outside the home
- Cooper Color Code of Awareness and the Scaling Force concept
- Nebraska laws governing handgun use, self-defense with a firearm, and carrying a concealed handgun
- Proper procedure for acquiring a Concealed Handgun Permit for the State of Nebraska
Handgun Permit Class
Required Materials
- Ear protection ear and eye protection (corrective lenses are acceptable)
- At least 100 rounds of ammunition
- At least 2 magazines if they provide their own firearm
- Proper attire (long pants, close-toed shoes, and a belt)
- Your Nebraska Drivers License and Pen & notepad
- Automatic External Defibrillator (AED)
- Leather, Kydex, or reinforced nylon holster if they provide their own firearm
Students are encouraged to:
- Bring the handgun they plan on carrying concealed
- Wear close-fitting clothing
If candidates are unable to provide their own firearm, we have a limited number of handguns for use at the range. If you plan on using one of these firearms, you must provide at least 100 rounds of either 9×19 Parabellum (9mm Luger) or .45 ACP.
